Session 1: Why do we respond?
In this first of a four part series on responding to student writing, participants will consider the kind of responder(s) we are and want to be while reconsidering how response and assessment can be used as teaching and learning tools, working to craft individual "response statements" for use within their own classroom(s).
Session 2: How are we responding?
In this sessions, participants will consider the language and knowledge students need in order to produce and assess their own writing, map their feedback practices to determine how they align with course outcome, and consider how to encourage productive revision with student writers.
Session 3: How can we teach effective peer review?
In the third session, participants will explore how to teach peer review, consider hierarchies of writing concerns, and reflect on classroom assessment techniques (CATs).
Session 4: What do students want from response?
In the last of a four part series on responding to student writing, participants will engage student perspectives and expectations of instructor feedback to formulate strategies for responding to student writing.
